Description
General Agha Muhammad Yahya Khan (1917–1980) was a Pakistani military officer and politician who served as the third President of Pakistan from 1969 to 1971. He assumed power following the resignation of President Ayub Khan and imposed martial law. Yahya Khan’s tenure is most remembered for the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, which led to the secession of East Pakistan and the creation of Bangladesh. Despite efforts to maintain national unity, his leadership faced severe criticism for political mismanagement and military failures. He resigned after the 1971 crisis and spent his remaining years in relative obscurity.
