Jimmy Carter (born 1 October 1924) is an American politician, diplomat, and philanthropist who served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981. Before his presidency, he was the Governor of Georgia. Carter is known for his focus on human rights, energy policy, and efforts to advance peace, including the Camp David Accords between Egypt and Israel. After leaving office, he has been active in humanitarian work, founding the Carter Center to promote global health, democracy, and conflict resolution. Carter received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his lifelong efforts.
