Esther Rantzen (born 22 June 1940) is a British journalist, television presenter, and social activist. She became a household name as the presenter of the long-running BBC television program That’s Life! (1973–1994), which mixed consumer investigations with humor. Rantzen is also widely respected for her charitable work; she founded ChildLine in 1986, a helpline supporting children in distress, and later established The Silver Line in 2013 to help elderly people facing loneliness. Over her career, she has received numerous honors, including being made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire. She remains an influential voice in British society.
