Elvira Nabiullina (born 29 October 1963) is a Russian economist and politician, serving as the Governor of the Central Bank of Russia since 2013. She is the first woman to hold this position in Russia and was previously the Minister of Economic Development from 2007 to 2012. Known for her expertise in economic policy, Nabiullina has played a key role in stabilizing Russia’s financial system, managing currency crises, and implementing monetary reforms. She has been recognized internationally for her leadership and included in Forbes’ list of the world’s most powerful women. Nabiullina remains a central figure in Russian economic policy.
