Cai Qi Biography
is a senior Chinese politician and a close ally of President Xi Jinping. He was born in December 1955 in Youxi County, Fujian Province, China. Cai began his political career in the late 1970s and gradually rose through the ranks of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
Over the years, he held several important positions in local governance, including working in Fujian and Zhejiang provinces, where he gained a reputation as a pragmatic and efficient administrator. In Zhejiang, he worked closely with Xi Jinping, which strengthened his political career and connections.
Cai later became the Mayor and then Party Secretary of Beijing, where he oversaw the city’s development, urban planning, and preparations for the 2022 Winter Olympics. He is known for his firm leadership style and loyalty to the central government.
In October 2022, Cai Qi was appointed as a member of the Politburo Standing Committee, the highest decision-making body in China, making him one of the most powerful figures in the country’s leadership.
