Barack Obama (born 4 August 1961) is an American politician and attorney who served as the 44th President of the United States from 2009 to 2017. He is the first African American to hold the presidency. Before his presidency, Obama was a U.S. Senator from Illinois and a state senator. His administration focused on healthcare reform, economic recovery, foreign policy, and climate change initiatives. Obama is also a Nobel Peace Prize laureate (2009) and author of several books. He remains an influential figure in American and global politics.
