Ali Akbar Velayati Biography (born June 25, 1945) is an Iranian physician, academic, and influential political figure. He served as Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1981 to 1997, making him one of the longest-serving foreign ministers in Iranian history.

Currently, Velayati holds the position of Senior Advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on International Affairs, a role that positions him as a key architect of Iran’s foreign policy. He also chairs the Center for Strategic Research and is the Secretary-General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening, an organization aimed at promoting unity among Muslim nations.

In 2013, Velayati ran for the presidency of Iran but was not elected. Despite this, he remains a prominent figure in Iran’s political landscape, known for his conservative views and significant influence in shaping the country’s foreign relations.
