Henry Kissinger (born 27 May 1923) is a German-born American diplomat, political scientist, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate. He served as U.S. Secretary of State from 1973 to 1977 and National Security Advisor from 1969 to 1975 under Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. Kissinger played a key role in shaping U.S. foreign policy during the Cold War, including détente with the Soviet Union, opening relations with China, and negotiating the Paris Peace Accords that ended American involvement in the Vietnam War. He remains a highly influential figure in international diplomacy and strategic studies.
