Ella Pamfilova (born 12 September 1953) is a Russian politician and public figure known for her long career in government and human rights work. She served as Minister of Social Protection from 1997 to 1999, becoming the first woman to hold such a ministerial position in Russia. Pamfilova later worked as a human rights advocate and chaired the Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights. Since 2016, she has been the Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission of Russia, overseeing national elections. She is recognized for her pioneering role as a female leader and her influence in Russian politics.
