Theresa May Biography (born 1 October 1956) is a British Conservative politician who served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2016 to 2019, becoming the second woman to hold the office after Margaret Thatcher.
Before her premiership, she was the Member of Parliament for Maidenhead from 1997 to 2024.
May was appointed Home Secretary in 2010, a position she held until 2016.
She led the UK through the Brexit negotiations, triggering Article 50 in 2017.
After resigning as Prime Minister in 2019, she remained active in public service and was elevated to the House of Lords in 2024.
